31 Days of Bathing Husbands in Scripture Prayers

Ephesians 5:26, tells husbands to wash their wives in the Word.  I believe as wives, we should also wash our husbands in the Word.  I know when my husband prays Scriptures over me, I feel encouraged and loved, but how much more it would mean if I prayed Scriptures over my husband too.  What a great way to show respect and love!

I'm asking you, as a wife, to pray for 31 days Scriptures Prayers to wash your husband in the word.  This challenge will start on Thursday, December 1, 2011.  If you want to see a radical change in your husband, I encourage you to join in on this challenge.  If you want to see the Holy Spirit move in your marriage, then step up and wash your husband in the Word.  If we as wives want to see a change, we have to get on our knees and let God move... here is your opportunity.

I encourage you to share this with all your friends.  Let's begin a journey of washing our husbands in the Word of God on a daily basis, covering the things he needs most from work life to father to leading, etc.

Day 29: Surprise Gift

I am thankful for...
for the surprise gift within me.
"Each of you has been blessed with one of God's many wonderful
gifts to be used in the service of others. So use your gift well."
1 Peter 4:10, CEV
Before I was formed, God knew me! I've pondered that verse so many times and it still awestruck me... to think that before I was ever thought of, ever planned to be, God KNEW me - and He fashioned me for a specific purpose and gave me the gift to fulfill it.  Now all I have to do is open it.

It is the same with you... when God formed you, He made sure that every part of you was perfect to complete the purpose He has called you for.  And then He did something amazing, He put the perfect gift within you to complete that purpose - now all you have to do is open it.

How do you open this gift? A question I've pondered so many times and then realized, I open my gift every time I do the things that bring glory to my Father in Heaven and in return fill me with joy! That's right! It is as easy as that... think about it this way, let's look at this verse:

"The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed."
Proverbs 11:25, NLT
How awesome is that?! When you refresh others, you yourself will be refreshed - and then there is a promise tied to this - "the generous will prosper" - You will prosper! When you use your gift, that gift, that God gave you, whether it is hospitality or maybe you are really good at talking with people to share about the love of God or maybe you're an evangelist or maybe you are a great teacher to kids - whatever that gift is, when you use it, you refresh others (bringing glory to God) and in return you are refreshed (blessed with joy).

I am so thankful for the gift that God planted within me.  He definitely made me unique, just like He did with you.

God blessed me with:
  • Creativity
  • Passion
  • Vision
  • Organization
  • Love for Dance
  • Talent
  • How to train others
  • Leadership
  • Teacher
What gift did God bless you with? I would love for you to share in a comment!

I hope this Princess Letter blesses you, like it did me, when I read it:

My Princess...
You are my Gifted One.
I have given you the gift of eternal life, but My giving
does not stop there.  Inside of you is a supernatural
surprise - a gift that is waiting to be unwrapped... by YOU.

Yes, it's there.  It's hidden behind dreams waiting to be pursued.
Swallowed up by daily distractions and
drowned by disappointments.

Let Me help you clear out the clutter and find
your gift.  You'll find it in that place in life that brings
you the greatest joy, that place where your soul
longs to be, that work your hands love to do.

But this gift that I've given to you is not just for you.
I have blessed you to be a blessing to others.
When you find your gift, I will take it and
multiply it beyond what you could ever imagine.
So ask Me, and I will help you open your gift
so that you can give it away to the world -
not to impress - but to bless.

Love,
Your King and the Giver
of every good and perfect gift

Day 28: I'm thankful for my family.

I'm thankful because...
I have a Family!
God, thank You, that I have a family.  Not everyone is as lucky as me to have the family that I do.  Parents who love me, pray for me, and help me.  A husband that cherishes me, loves me, protects me, provides for me, and helps me.  A son, whom is the joy in my life, a complete gift from God above - loves me, enjoys being with me, calls me teacher, and wants to play with me.

But most of all God, I am SO thankful that I belong to the Kingdom of Heaven.  You are my Perfect Daddy who loves me unconditionally, forgets those things I've asked forgiveness for, and You look upon me as royalty.  Yes, Thank You, God, that I am Your Princess!!! I'm so thankful to be a part of a royal family, where I shine like the stars in the skies, much brighter and hotter than any Hollywood Star.  It brings me much joy to know that I am Your Daughter...

My Princess,

You are a daughter of the King, and not just any king. You are My daughter, and I am the God of all heaven and earth. I'm delighted with you! You are the apple of My eye. You're Daddy's girl. I formed your body. I fashioned your mind and soul. I understand your needs and desires and I love you passionately and patiently.

My child, I bought you with a price so that we could have an intimate relationship together now and for all eternity. Soon we will see each other face-to-face-Father and daughter-and you will experience the wonderful place I have prepared for you. For now, I want you to fix your eyes on heaven, and walk closely with Me. You will know that-although I am God-My arms are not too big to hold you, My beloved daughter.

Love,
Your King and your Daddy in heaven

~
"And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty."

Movie Review: HUGO

Hugo is about a boy that becomes an orphan and ends up living in a train station taking care of the clocks.  A job that he loves and makes sure every clock is correct every single day.  But there is something else about this boy named Hugo, he is in search of the reason why his father died and everything lies in this small journal that his father wrote.  His father left behind the sketchings to fix this metal man called an "automatan".  Hugo steals parts from this toy store within the train station, to where the store owner catches him and takes this special journal.  And thus the mystery begins to solve how the toy store owner links to this "automatan".  Hugo and the toy store's god-daughter work together in fixing the automatan figure, discovering who the real toy store owner is, and realizing that everyone has a purpose and if they aren't doing it, they are broken.

This movie is very clean, I would recommend it to the ages of 8 and up, due to the length of the movie.

Christian View Points from the movie:
1. You have a God-Given Purpose
"For I know the plans I have for you, declared the Lord.  Plans to prosper you and not to harm, to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

"A spiritual gift is given to each of us, so we can help each other." I Corinthians 13:7

2. We are all part of the Body (or Machine as stated in the movie)
"The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body.  So it is with the Body of Christ." I Corinthians 13:12

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

So, my little man woke up at 7:30 a.m., him and I cuddled on the couch watched a movie, then I cooked him breakfast.  We watched the parade, and then my hubby and I made a great team in the kitchen cooking dinner together. :)

Here is a picture of our place settings, I got this idea from "Our Best Bites" a pin I found on Pinterest:

These are SO cute! My son saw these and immediately asked for it! LOL But he did a good job waiting till he could dig into it.

Here is a picture of our table:

We cooked everything that was on our Thanksgiving Menu Planner, and I must say EVERYTHING was delicious!!! I think that was the BEST Thanksgiving dinner I've had.  Some of the favorites were the deviled eggs, the turkey, the stuffing, the gravy, and the bacon wrapped olives!

The turkey was a recipe from Tyler Florence off of FoodNetwork.com but I added some twists to it, just because I never like to follow recipes and I go with whatever I'm in the mood for. LOL  But here is a picture of our turkey:

We bought a 13 pound turkey at a store called Aldi's for less than $15!!! We basted it every 30 minutes with watered down maple syrup and after the first 2 hours, we then basted it with the juices in the pan.  We cooked it at 350*F for 4 hours.  It was stuffed with cornbread stuffing that I made from scratch.  This turkey browned up nicely.  We baked it uncovered for 2 hours, then noticed it was browning too fast, then covered it with foil and it never burned.  It was SO moist and tender - delicious!

Here is a picture of our bacon wrapped olives:

These are so easy to make, require little preparation and are great snacks or appetizers! They are a sure hit for the bacon lover - which everyone in my house LOVES bacon.  Basically, buy large olives and low sodium bacon (trust me on the low sodium, otherwise if you use regular bacon you'll be eating salt lick) and toothpicks.  Cut bacon strips in half, wrap around the olive, secure with a toothpick and broil for 5 minutes on each side.  YUM!!! Great football snack to keep in mind when Super Bowl comes around.

So glad we got to stay home today and thankful for my family and all the food I'm blessed with!

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

My husband, Aaron, and I were both told we could not have children.  It pretty much defeated Aaron, but I chose to believe in the "impossible" and stand on the promises of God.  I sought out every Scripture that promised the blessing of children.  And 4 years after marriage, I found out that I was pregnant.  We were excited, we thanked God, and we told everyone!

Aaron and I had a moving day, that same day, I ended up in the hospital and our dreams of having a baby came to an end.  I miscarried at 10 weeks.  Oh, I was devastated... I can recall many nights and afternoons where I sat in the room that was going to be the nursery and just cried.  I withdrew from everyone, not because I didn't want their sympathy or compassion for what I was going through... I did it because I needed to seek God on my own, cry out to Him, and let Him comfort me through this hard time.  And I'm so GLAD I did that.  One night my husband and I went to the church for nightwatch - a time of soaking in God's presence.  As I was there, God spoke to me and He gave me a vision of a beautiful baby in His arms and told me everything is OK.  That moment on I was able to move forward and once again stood on the promises of Scripture that we would have a baby.

A year went by, friends around me were getting pregnant, and I still waited patiently for my turn - though it was very hard.  Then before the year ended, I ended up pregnant! God blessed us and this time I prayed Scriptures against miscarriages!!! I had my beautiful son, Jordan, on September 3rd, 2008.  And he is truly our blessing from God!

As time has rolled on and enjoying the pressures of family life, my husband and I sat down and decided we needed to change some things.  We walked through our house praying together and asking God what things needed to be removed the home - we pitched movies, music, pictures, and even some books.  Then we sat down together and asked God for a list of family rules and how we should handle consequences.  As the rules started coming, we wrote them down and then looked up Scriptures in the Bible to coincide with the rule.

Our house rules and consequence chart is hung up on the wall.  We had a family meeting to go over the rules and consequences with our son and we showed him his "time out" area.  Since we've started using this and putting it into effect, we've had less issues with discipline and it has helped us stay consistent with our method of discipline.  This has been a life saver for us!

If you would like to see a copy of our house rules, consequence chart, and time out prayer cards, then CLICK HERE.

I am thankful that our family heeds to the Holy Spirit's promptings and that we strive to be a family that serves the Lord in all we do!

Day 22: Waiting on my King!

I am thankful to...
Wait on my King!

"But those who wait on the Lord will find new strength.  They will fly high on wings like eagles.  They will run and not grow weary.  They will walk and not faint."  Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

Today's challenge is about being thankful right where you are.  It is SO easy to get caught up in the... BUT God, I "want"... or BUT God, I "need"... and at times we can be just like our little children that burn the parents' ears with the I wants and the I needs with Our Heavenly Father...

I am so thankful where God has placed me right now.  I am a wife, a mother, a homemaker, an employee, and a teacher.  And for all these things I am so thankful.  I get to hear my little mister sing songs he's heard me sing to him at the top of his lungs while he's winding down to go to sleep... hear him quote Scriptures I've taught to him to his daddy... hear him quote the prayer we do every day before we start school to his trains... and for those things they make me so thankful, but it also refreshes me and makes my heart jump with joy!

The fleshly nature spoke of in Romans says that we fail to do good.  Though we desire to do what is right, we still choose to do the other - an endless battle within ourselves...

I read that during a Bible study I was going through and at first I thought I read it wrong and had to go back and read it again... and again.. and again... it bothered me at first, so I just kept reading it and then asking God for revelation.

You can look at this verse alongside your attitude of gratitude...
Do you give thanks for ALL things or only when things make you happy for the moment? Do you thank God for the hard trials or only when things are good? Do you give thanks when the child(ren) are pushing that last nerve or only when they behave?

I had to take a step back and look at my life in a different perspective... and I asked God to give me His eyes to see what my life looked like to Him.  I was amazed, astonished, blessed, joyful, and overwhelmed all at the same time from what I got to see...  and I have a new perspective on my role and why God has me where I am RIGHT now!

I am in a growing phase and God, thank You for this road You have placed my family on right now... at times it is very difficult and at times the emotions get the best of us and we don't always do what we would "like" to do... but this path is to shape us, mold us, and grow us... and I can't wait to see what lies ahead of us...

I am a scrapbook queen, but I have found a NEW love for digital scrapbooking.  I tried out the My Memories Suite 2 scrapbook software and I have to say it is easy - so it's rated number 1 for a reason!!!

I've never done digital scrapbooking before and wasn't sure if I would like it or not... I absolutely LOVE it! Talk about a HUGE time saver, I can catch up on scrapbooks that I haven't completed yet... and still use embellishments, sayings, and sticker look-a-like things.  Sure, it might not have that "3D" feel once printed out, but it looks absolutely AMAZING - and another plus, it's cheaper!

This software is GREAT for beginners (like me) or veterans of the digital scrapbook world.  There are templates that are ready to use, and you can alter them to fit your style or change as you would like... OR you can build your own design.

You don't just create something to pull out, you get to create it and share it for everyone to "experience" - that is cool!!!  How can you share your creation? In a variety of ways:

  • Print from home
  • Save as JPEG
  • Have printed out from company in desired format
  • Burn to a DVD/CD
  • Send to iMovie or equivalent
  • Send to iPod
Think about all the personal Christmas gifts and cards you can create!!! And truly you can create these in less than 30 minutes! I downloaded the software and it took me about 5 minutes to pan through the software to see what was available and how it works - and voila! In 20 minutes I created two albums, see them below:

Day 17: Laundry

I am thankful for...
LAUNDRY!!!

Yes, you did read that right.  I am thankful for ALL the laundry that I have to do.  You are probably thinking, "are you crazy?!" or "come over to my house!" Well, after the following scenarios you too just might be thankful for the laundry in your house:

  • We went to the gas station and were stopped by a couple before we got to ready to leave.  They asked us for ONLY 2 gallons of gas to put in their truck, so they could stay WARM through the night.  My heart instantly broke because I realized they were living in their truck, nothing with them, but the clothes on their back and a truck to stay in.  We gave them more gas than they asked for...
  • A couple on the street corner, young couple at that, and the girl is pregnant.  We've seen them a few times before but I noticed they were in the same clothes.  My husband ran into them one night when he was picking up food for us at KFC - all they asked for was $1.  My husband didn't have any cash on him, so he told them to order anything they wanted... and he had the opportunity to talk with them and share about Jesus... when he got ready to leave, my husband checked his wallet and sure enough a dollar was there, so he gave it to them along with the food they ordered...
  • Kids starving in the streets of Jamaica are lucky to even have clothes on their back, they might just be wearing a rag to resemble clothing... to wash their clothes, they go to a dirty river and wash it with soap on a board - and this is a special occasion, not daily, for it depends on if they have money for soap...

I don't know about you, but I'm blessed and so is my family! I have clothes on my back AND in my drawers - a variety of them, so I don't get bored.  I am SO thankful for the laundry that I GET to do, not that I HAVE to do it, but I GET the privilege of doing it because God has blessed my family and me with a gazillion clothes to wear... and though at times I get holes in a new pair of jeans or my favorite shirt seems to start become "worn" to my standard... I think of the above scenarios and realize I'm blessed!

Thank You, God, for the laundry that I get to do... the money to pay for the water, the machine that helps make the process easier, and the privilege of having much!

Day 12: In the Sun

Thank You, God for...
basking in the sunshine!
After a couple of days of our first snow flurries and the first tastes of winter and knowing it is just around the corner... today brought sunshine and warmer weather.  I just love it when the sun is out! Just sitting in the sun for 5 minutes, brightens my day, refreshes me, makes me energized, and brings joy to the soul!!!

It reminds me of being in the presence of My King!  You know, those moments when you KNOW you are the presence of Jesus, and you feel refreshed, energized, happy, joyful, and full of love - you just don't want to leave that presence.
Then you have those days of clouds and though you "know" the sun is still shining - because obviously if it was summer, you might find that if you don't wear sunscreen you can get burnt.  It doesn't always feel warm, the sun isn't there to brighten the day, and though the rays reach you it still doesn't energize you like being in direct sunlight...

Ever had those days where you feel like storm clouds have entered in and though you "know" Your King is there with you -- it still feels like He is at a distance and the storm clouds overtake you.  But how comforting it is to know that His "rays" reach out to us, even when we don't "feel" Him... they can reach out to us so much, it's like having sunburn - we didn't feel like He was around us, but He left a sign that He was! Now, I'm not saying He leaves us pain - His presence is always there, just like the sunshine - even on those days when the storm clouds or rain clouds roll in - that's comforting!

It just reminds me that when those storm/rain clouds roll in, those moments of testing and tribulation is when "I" need to press in the MOST! My King is already there... but even if I don't "feel" like He is or if I don't "think" He is... that's when I have to press in and not let the storm/rain clouds overtake me, so I can past them and into the direct rays of the sunshine where I find my joy, my strength, my refreshing, my love... but it requires "me" to push in!

Thank You, God for the direct rays of sunshine and reminder it's like being in the presence of My King!

Day 10: Thank You, God, for yummy snacks!

Thank You, God, for...
Yummy Snacks!!!

You know you love to snack!!! I know I do, and so does my 3 year old little guy.  Some of our favorite snacks are popcorn, oreo cookies, fruit snacks, fruit and cheese, ham rolls, marshmallows, etc...

My son has been watching me with this thankfulness challenge and I said outloud today, "Thank You, God for..." and he said "yummy snacks"!!! I couldn't agree more. :)

So, we went into the kitchen, baked some yummy muffins and enjoyed a snack with one another on the living room floor curled up in a blanket with glasses of milk, while watching Finding Nemo.

I am so thankful for the moment my son and I got to share with each other... and for yummy snacks!

Day 9: Home Maker

I am thankful because...
I have a place to call home.

Jesus is preparing a place for me in Heaven! I can just imagine that Jesus is building a place that fits who I am, complete with an ocean, rainforest, and my roof is a skylight to look right into my Daddy's eyes!

My Prince, Jesus, I'm so thankful that you are preparing my home in Heaven... and I'm so thankful that You have provided a home for me here on earth.  With many in the area losing their homes left and right, seeing more and more people on the streets... I'm blessed to be able to walk into a house to call "home", to lounge on a couch, to sit at a table and eat dinner, to curl up in a warm bed and sleep with pillows.

Thank You for taking care of us!

Day 8: An Ordained Life

I'm thankful because...
God has ordained my life.

An ordained life? Yes! I know can be hard to grasp, but I'm so thankful God has ordained my foot steps in life.  Why am I thankful for that? Because though He orchestrates my life, it lets me know...

(1) I do not have to live stressed out!
Yes! I can be stress free! Why? Because I don't have to TRY to make my days in my life "work" - God has already set the path before me, I just have to walk it!

(2) God is with me ALWAYS!
Since God has ordained my life and He has made the path for me to walk on - that also means that He is with me ALWAYS! Every where I go, He is with me.  He is there to help when I fall.  He is there to wipe my tears when I'm sad.  He is there to hug me when I feel alone.  Every step of the way in my life, God is there with me.

(3) God makes sure that I'm completing the purpose He put me here for.
God has a purpose for me! And He ordained my life, so that all the gifts within me would bring me enjoyment and bless others.  Whatever His purpose for me is - it will be accomplished!

Thank You, God, for blessing my days, for providing the path for me each day, and ordaining my foot steps to accomplish Your Work!

Day 7: My Planner

I am thankful because...
my King takes my plans and turns them into more than I can imagine!
Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.
~Proverbs 16:3

I don't know about you, but I'm a planner! I have a notebook that is divided out by topics and I have a daily task list with goals and subgoals and even an hour by hour schedule... your probably thinking, WOW, she's organized! But... no matter how much time I put into doing that so-called daily task list, I've realized that if I don't commit what "I" have planned for a day to God, about NONE of it gets done! (So, yes, probably pointless to do in the first place... oh well, I had good intentions, right?!)

I stumbled across this verse in Proverbs and I decided that when I sat down to do my daily task list, I would commit it to God! And yah know what?! Every time I do this, my plans become more than what I expected AND my days are stress free... sometimes everything gets done on the list, other times, God changes things up and what I thought I would do turned out to be greater!  His intervention is WAY better than any plan I could come up with. :)
I challenge you to commit your plans to God!

Thank You, God, that You are my King and my Planner!!!

My Princess...
     Give me your plans

I know you have an idea in your head on how everything should unfold in your life.  Even today you have an agenda.  Because I love you, I need you to give Me back all your plans for today and for all your tomorrows.  If you let Me have your day, I can then intervene with something special.  My intervention will give you more joy in your journey than your good intentions.  I know all that your heart longs for, and I want to do more for you than you could ever do for yourself.  So give Me a chance to change your agenda from ordinary to extraordinary, because that's the kind of life I've destined you to live, My beloved.

Love,
Your King and your Planner

Day 6: Prosperity Promise

I am thankful because...
God promises to make me prosperous.

Have you ever looked up the word "prosper" in the Bible? It's amazing how many Scriptures of promise there are on this.

I truly believe my favorite one is this:

"I will bless this city and make it prosperous; I will satisfy its poor with food." Psalm 132:15

To me this verse is fitting for the area that I live in...
  • Homeless shelters actually have reached max limits
  • People losing homes left and right
  • Jobs are few and far between
  • Crime increasing all around
Now some people might think "why do you live there?!" but I don't ask that question to myself, instead I've come to realize that God is growing me through this time and place of where I am at.  I am seeing God provide for my family and I on a daily basis... and God has even given us opportunities to share with those less fortunate around us.  The stories I have heard are heart breaking... but it has been an honor to share the love of Jesus with these people.

I am standing on Psalm 132:15 for my city and my household will be the light house in our neighborhood and in our city for those that need the love of Jesus in their lives.  My household will be a family on our knees for this city and change will take place, even if it is one house/person at a time.

Thank You, God, that promise to bless my city and make it prosper! Not one person will go without!

Will you be on your knees for your city?
